Tell me more about freedom of expression

I wrote to this guy who has a blog about the Prophet Mohammed caricatures. I don't have anything against freedom of speech or expression and neither do I have anything against Islam but I do feel something about the current furore.

This is what I wrote: (slightly edited)

Oh ok I see that you are labelling countries that do not support reprinting cartoons as stupid or dim or enemies or whatever.

One thing that you may not realize is that the freedom of speech that you may call your actions by are in fact a load of rubbish.

I ask you, do you have a religion? Yes? No? If no, then maybe you won't see my point. But if yes, then maybe you won't like someone else to insult your God.

I myself am not a Muslim, nor do I like their way of bombing. That religion is breeding lots of suicide bombers and people who don't know how to think for themselves. But there are still a lot of others who are ashamed of these people who call themselves Muslims.

I hope that you know the saying, "Let sleeping dogs lie." and "Do not trouble trouble until trouble troubles you."

By publishing these cartoons, the Dane who did it has become a target for much Muslim hatred. And all these reprinting of cartoons as a show of solidarity, well, may be a good idea, but I can assure you these Muslim dodos are going to bomb some places real soon.

They have no brains, but do you?

and I added after a while: (edited cos I can't remember what I wrote)

Oh yes I realized that you have enabled comment moderation. Freedom of speech? What is? It's a real joke that you are supporting freedom of speech, arguing for it and yet, this.

This is a special post so I will allow comments for this post in particular. And yeah, no moderation unless there are spam ads or vulgarities.

Well guess what, that guy said my post wasn't relevant and deleted it. How nice.

I will wait to see if my last comment was posted up. If it is, well done. If not, I will write more about this on MY blog.

Some bombs will go off soon. I am a little worried. But I think the terrorists won't come to Finland cos it's too north and too cold LOL. and I am so glad Finland didn't join in this shiet.

Hi there. Just one short comment.

Freedom of expression is exactly to acknowledge the right of the OTHER to say all those things that I do NOT agree with, however idiot, silly or offensive I FEEL they are! It took a long time and many dead people to achieve it, and it is a basic principle of our culture.
Limits are, in democratic societies, established only by law, and cover the fundamental rights of individual persons; it's a case for courts. Reactions like we've seen are mostly criminal, and a police case.
Freedom is a live experience, and there is a lot to learn on Freedom...

Well, I guess freedom of expression is like what you said. But I hope you have also heard of religious tolerance and sensitivity.

Freedom is dangerous if people who have it don't exercise their brains.

OK, just one last comment, and I'll finish...
It has taken a long time for us to comprehend that all persons are born equal and with certain unalienable rights, including «life» and «liberty»! In some places, however, this basic statement – more than 200 years old - is still mostly an illusion. When you say “Freedom is dangerous”, I think you're right: Freedom is very dangerous but to dictators and to zealots who would deny it to others! Freedom itself is also a much dangerous way of life, but fortunately it is ours...
As far as tolerance is concerned, after centuries of intolerance, we in Europe have learned to admire it. Tolerance however has nothing to do with the behaviour of those who behead, murder, jail or threaten people just because they have different views!
