Crash, another very very good movie
Crash is a really good show about the huge problem of racial discrimination in USA (against mainly blacks, but there’s also this scene about Hispanics).
It is also an excellent reason why racism should never be allowed to fester in a country. The kind of racism that can be shown by service staff to customers is definitely considered mild compared what Crash actually shows.
Another thing about Crash is it gives (more than) just cause against gun ownership. You buy a gun to protect yourself against others who are allowed to own guns because of a piece of stupid legislation, and whose ONLY reason for existence is because these gun lobbyists have so much money to fund the politicians’ campaigns. Stupid US of A (yeah that’s what they call USA. You didn’t know that?). Freedom of gun ownership indeed. What about freedom to kill anyone they want? What other freedom do they need? To hang themselves?
I don’t want to be a spoiler about this show, and anyone who wants this movie can just let me know, and we can arrange something, you know? Hee…
I’m pretty shaken after the show (even without too much violence and gore), and I need to listen to some songs before I can doze off. That’s what I call a good movie. One that can actually stir up some (very) strong emotion and sentiment in me.
Crash is also not like the typical movie where all the bad things get cleaned up totally, and that not everybody lives happily ever after. At least it is realistic! In life, nothing’s perfect! But of course now I understand the need for shows to have happy-ever-after endings. Otherwise the poor audience get shaken up like me. (I don’t know what the hell I am talking about, but I actually prefer not to have happy-ever-after endings. GAWD!)
And now I can appreciate the fact that racism in Singapore is kept to an absolute minimum. All racists should be ashamed of themselves. That said, I know that racism will always exist in the world. But at the very least just keep it under the carpet OK? Not make it too obvious!
OK enough said, time for bed. I hope I don’t get a nightmare today. Hallelujah.
P.S.: OK I am a bit "slow" lah, but I find the Singlish "Dictionary" in Talkingcock.com si beh funny. You all Europeans, Americans, Canadians or whoever is not Singaporean reading my blog can refer to this when you need to speak Singlish to me, or if you think that Singlish is not a developed language. (Forazumper, check out the meanings of the underlined words!)
There is an art to insert the "lahs", "lehs", "mehs" and "lohs" and they are all not interchangeable (this is especially for you, Taylor!) At least not at every instant. Singlish is an amalgamation of so many languages/dialects that if you are not proficient in at least 3 of them, your Singlish would probably suck. WAHAHAHAHA!
